Pizzeria La Locanda Del Pittore Iwappara

After five years, I finally returned to Pizzeria La Locanda del Pittore, and I’m delighted to say it’s still as amazing as I remembered! The quality of the food remains exceptional, making it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. On this visit, we ordered two pasta dishes and four pizzas for our group of six, and every bite was a delight. The pasta was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and paired beautifully with the sauces. The pizzas, with their thin crust and generous toppings, were nothing short of spectacular. Each one offered a unique taste that kept us coming back for more. The ambiance of the pizzeria adds to the overall experience. The decor is charming and inviting, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The great vibes made our meal even more enjoyable, setting the perfect backdrop for laughter and good conversation. If you’re looking for a place that combines quality food with a lovely setting, Pizzeria La Locanda del Pittore is the place to be. I can’t wait for my next visit!

I thought that one member of the staff wasn’t very friendly when I entered and asked if they had any tables open for 2, she had kind of a scowl on her face. It also took them a long time to get anyone’s attention to try and order dessert. The food was good, but not the best I’ve had. The pizza was better than the pasta. The mont blanc was the best thing I had here. As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices are quite high. I’m not sure I’d visit again, once was enough for me.

Absolutely amazing! This feels like an odd place for such great Italian food, but everything was so good. Overall: Great food, nice atmosphere with view of pizza oven, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Book ahead, especially during ski season. Details: The pizza base was perfect for the calzone, I’ve had soggy ones before but this was delicious and very easy to eat. The blue cheese gnocchi were very tender and had a good amount of sauce, served on a warm plate so the sauce doesn’t solidify, too. The waiter seemed knowledgeable about drinks, and was able to make recommendations, and as I had mentioned we would want to choose a cake at the end, they made sure to remind me before everything was gone. Everything that we had was great, including the starter assortment that we chose. I don’t think you can go wrong with much here, but the gnocchi and calzone are my recommendations!

the pizza here was pretty good, especially the margherita. The texture of the spaghetti was a bit weird and tasted like ramen noodles mixed with spaghetti. Overall the place is good but for the higher price i wouldn’t come back.

Definitely delicious! During my ski trip in Iwappara, We were planning to go there for lunch and it was beyond our expectations. We went there around 11.10 on Sunday and there were no lines. It was limit the time to seats due to the winter season I guess. They allowed us to seat around 1 hour. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. We ordered Margherita, pasta, seasonal green salad and also hot coffee. Everything we ordered was delicious! The price also reasonable. They have a menu to see in mobile as well. I do recommend it if you are around the area would love to go again sometime soon

Probably one the best and most authentic Italian place in Niigata. The atmosphere of the place really reminds of an Italian rifugio (mountain hut) and this is a MUST stop if you are in Yuzawa area. Both pasta and pizza are amazing and the meat is another level. The owner is a big collector of wine and Grappa so definitely go for it. ※P.S: I have been here almost every year, but I think they have recently changed the pizzaiolo. Quality is still good, but the pizza’s size has become a little bit smaller. Still recommend to eat here if you wanna enjoy real Italian food.

Best place in Japan for pizzas. My European friends had been raving about this place for the longest of time and after going there for the first time, I realized how good it was. And as they say, the rest is history! Please call in advance for dinner reservations because it's really popular. They usually don't take reservations for lunch and the line would be really long especially during white season (Winter). But the wait is definitely worth it!!

Best italian food I’ve had in my life. I’ve been to some italian restaurant in tokyo and some other countries but this is definitely the best italian food I’ve ever had. There’s quite a varietelt of unusual pizzas that are probably all good. The pasta was also amazing. A must try and must eat if you are nearby the area. They also have some pizzas that I’ve never seen being sold in other italian places in Japan.
